It is easy to look at healthcare in America and realize something is wrong. While everyone has a band aid to offer, there is no real solution in sight. Why is that the case? There are several answers. While health care is expense is soaring, more of the American public is in need of medical care. With a higher number of Americans finding that they have one of the many chronic conditions that are on the rise, they are relying on an overburdened system to deliver care. For businesses trying to compete in what looks like a poor economic, this can be troubling. With health insurance premiums going up they find themselves in a bind, trying to keep and attract employees by offering comprehensive medical insurance. What is wrong with this picture is that the wrong question is being asked. By just buying into the idea that health insurance is the answer to a growing problem of a disease driven market place, business is overwhelming demonstrating that it is not forging new pathways to counteract the damage being done by lifestyle choices.

The market place for healthcare is driven by a desire for health and wellness. The issue is that businesses have a duty to deliver a workable model that incorporates the employees need for onsite wellness programs. Because at the end of the day health insurance is not providing the basic conditions to obtain a well workforce. It is really a solution for a fear driven insurance program based on perceived future events that one may of may not have control over. It does not cut down on sick days, non productive days, tired days, minor aches and pain days. It also does not produce enthusiastic energetic workers, nor does it make employees more loyal to the company for their perceive interest in their wellbeing.

So what I am saying is that businesses need a more creative approach to employee health programs. For a loyal following and for a productive work force you need more than health insurance. In fact the focus of a workplace should be on the employee’s wellbeing and that will produce more for company moral than any other model. The good news, this is the least expensive way to go and the dividends are enormous. This is a model that will help your bottom- line not drain it.  There are many ways to incorporate this that are creative and fun. Best of all you do not always have to foot the entire bill for these preventative programs.

It is a fact that these programs are a huge draw to a potential employee and your company’s workers are grateful to be able to part takes in these endeavors. On these pages I will be interviewing providers of these services and businesses that utilize some type of wellness program. They will be tips on how to start your own program for just about free. We want to encourage companies to focus on the prevention and natural solutions to health and wellness in the workplace.

For one thing healthy employees lower the premiums on the health care policies, while at the same time emphasizing what you can afford to offer not what you are lacking in employee benefits.
